FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really private? How do I know nothing is stored?
Yes. No-Note Notebook runs entirely in your browser's memory. There is no backend server receiving your keystrokes, no database, and nothing written to disk. When you close the tab or the auto-clear fires, the content is gone. Your account is used only to verify your plan — it never sees what you type.
Does it work alongside video and audio call platforms?
Yes. No-Note Notebook runs in a separate browser tab or window. Open it alongside whatever platform you're using, switch to it when you need to type a note, and switch back. No integration needed.
How does the auto-clear timer work?
The timer starts 5 seconds after you stop typing — a grace period so it doesn't fire mid-thought. You can set it from 30 seconds to 3 minutes in Settings. When it fires, the pad wipes with a red flash. The Ghost Panel holds your last cleared text briefly so you can restore it if needed.
What is the custom kill shortcut, and why is it Premium?
The kill shortcut lets you wipe the pad instantly with a single key combo — no mouse, no clicks. Free users get the default Ctrl+Q shortcut. Premium users can reassign it to any key combination they prefer, which is especially useful when speed matters and you need a key that fits your muscle memory.
What happens to my abbreviations if I clear my browser data?
Free users' abbreviations are saved in your browser's local storage — separate from cookies, so clearing cookies alone won't affect them. However, if you clear all site data or cached data from your browser settings, local storage is wiped and your abbreviations will be lost. Premium users have their abbreviations saved to their account, so they're safe regardless of browser changes.
How do abbreviations work?
You define your own shorthand in Tools → Abbreviations. For example, "c/o" can expand to "chief complaint". Type it and press space — it highlights in yellow. Hover to see the full expansion inline. Premium users get the Bottom Panel, which expands every abbreviation in your notes automatically as you type.
Can I use it on my phone or tablet?
Yes, No-Note Notebook is fully responsive and works in any modern mobile browser. It's designed primarily for desktop use where typing at speed matters most.
